A powerful American delegation just landed in Taiwan. And the goal is to make Taiwan's military much stronger.

A high-level team of US defense industry leaders arrived in Taipei on May 26. It is a four-day visit led by a retired senior US Pacific commander. The focus: fixing procurement delays, exploring joint weapons production, and accelerating Taiwan's military upgrades.

This visit is significant because it comes at the same time the US paused a $14 billion arms sale to Taiwan. That pause caused real concern in Taipei. China has been sending 21 warplanes near the island every few days. This visit is America's way of saying: we are still committed to your defense, even if the weapons shipment is delayed.

China immediately condemned the visit. Beijing views US military cooperation with Taiwan as interference in its internal affairs.
